Job Description

Job PurposeReporting Administratively to the Executive Director and Functionally to the Finance Manager and, the HR Advisor will provide general HR guidance and execute HR initiatives to support KCDC employees and Management staff working either day, afternoon, and/or night shifts.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain credibility with employees by addressing, following up and responding to questions, concerns and problems quickly, professionally and accurately.
  • Supports Program Managers in employee relations issues, hiring, and onboarding activities for casual and part-time staff as well as volunteers where applicable. This includes developing job postings; posting positions internally and publicly; screening and shortlisting applicants; scheduling and preparing for interviews; conducting reference checks; and providing job offers.
  • Supports onboarding of new employees to the organization by preparing necessary materials and establishing a relationship as the employee’s HR contact.
  • Collects and ensures proper documentation is completed for personnel files. As well as maintains and update personnel files for employees in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Management of Dayforce including processing bi-weekly payroll, verifying and posting into Ceridian, providing ROEs, and management of the Payroll mailbox.
  • Manages benefits administration. Advises employees when they are eligible for benefits, provides information on the process and policy, and sets the employees up using the online portal.
  • Notifies employees of their eligibility for the Registered Savings Plan (RSP). Prepares a letter informing the employee and providing information on how to opt-in.
  • Supports all employees regarding issues and concerns as they relate to Centre operation policies and interpretations of same. This includes advocating with Management for potential changes.
  • Ensures personnel documents and forms are standardized and reflect organizational policies and employment standards and ensure compliance with CARF standards for Accreditation.
  • Ensures accounts payable are processed accurately on a timely basis
  • Schedules and prepares cheques per bi-monthly cheque schedule
  • Reconciles vendor’s statements and the outstanding payments
  • Assists the administrative team as backup when absent or as required, including but not limited to accounts receivable and administrative assistant.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Business or Human Resources.
  • Previous experience in the area of Human Resources or a combination of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience working in a Non-Profit organization an asset but not required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects.
  • Ability to proactively improve current processes and increase efficiencies.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with Accounting software an asset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an active team player.
