Our Western Region consists of nine feed mills across British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba.POSITION SUMMARY:A Skilled Operator reports to the Plant Manager. operates equipment and machinery that requires a certain level of proficiency acquired through training on the job and specialized training.JOB DESCRIPTIONOperational tasks:Executes operational activities / processes such as discharge, load, transport, clean, label, operate all equipment, in order to contribute to a safe, effective and efficient production processes.Maintenance & repair tasks:Periodically inspects and executes small maintenance tasks on the production equipment, signaling defects and deficiencies.If applicable and appropriate, conducts minor repair workReporting:Logs data and information on production orders and activities in the appropriate logbooks / systems in order to have a complete administration and insight in the state and progress of production ordersContinuous improvement:Signals deviations in current processes, techniques and/or systems and flags opportunities for improvement with supervisor, in order to continuously optimize and improve operational (work) processes, tools and systems.Safety & Compliance:Works in compliance with all relevant (personal as well as food) safety, environmental and quality regulations and procedures, as well as operational standardsPromotes awareness on SHEQ, signals potential hazardous and / or unsafe situations, takes appropriate action is case of imminent unsafe situationsGood housekeeping:Ensures the work area is left clean and in a safe working condition and that there are no hazardous situations. Maintains the appearance of the production line(s), working area(s) and production siteScope of work:Primary focus on the execution of multiple related operational activities (specific in objective and content) at one of more stages in the operational process.Operation of processes and/or equipment, which is directly related to the core value chain / operational processFocus of activities / complexity, freedom to think / supervision:Executes series of routine tasks; course of action is clear based on choices between known alternatives or previous experience / precedentsImpact:Activities encountered have been experienced previously and there is usually only one correct answer, however, there is some need to analyze and diagnose to find the answer.Communication and influencing skills:Supports and advises lower level colleagues.May supervise support staff.Dealing with others requires understanding, influencing and supporting people, through applying technical knowledge or rational arguments, leading others to take actionWHAT WE REQUIRE:
    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Ability to communicate and write in English
    • Vocational, 2 – 4 years’ experience
    • Training on the job plus specialized (formal) training
    • Knowledge in manufacturing / farming
    • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to regularly bend and twist, and lift 50 pounds.
