The objective of the resource management program is to manage salmon and other fisheries in the Fraser and Interior Area. This work involves on-going discussion and planning with Indigenous organizations and with commercial and recreational fishing interests.The Section Head supervises employees and is responsible for managing financial resources and other assets.Section Head – Indigenous ProgramsThe Section Head for Indigenous Programs is responsible for the delivery of Indigenous funding programs for the Fraser and Interior Area. They supervise employees who manage salmon and other fisheries. They are responsible for acting in accordance with the guides, tools and best practices recognized in the federal government for consultation.The Section Head supervises employees and is responsible for managing financial resources and other assets.Work environmentWhy Work with usWe are a federal institution, responsible for safeguarding our waters and managing Canadas fisheries and oceans resources.Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) helps to ensure healthy and sustainable aquatic ecosystems through habitat protection and sound science. We support economic growth in the marine and fisheries sectors, and innovation in areas such as aquaculture and biotechnology.The Fraser and Interior Area encompasses a large part of British Columbia, stretching from the headwaters of the Fraser River at Tete Jaune Cache to the mouth of the Fraser, including Howe Sound, the Thompson River watershed, the Okanagan Watershed and the Canadian portion of the Columbia watershed. The area is geographically diverse with interests in Pacific Salmon, pelagics, marine invertebrates and the habitats they depend upon.
