The Perenti Group operates across a wide range of mining sectors and offers unique career progression opportunities.The Opportunity:Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for Trades Assistant to join our team at the Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario.

  • This role is 14-days on / 14-days off.
  • Shifts are days and nights.
  • Open to Canadian Residents
Reporting to the Maintenance Lead Hand, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers while assisting various Tradespeople who are performing mechanical and electrical maintenance underground at the Hemlo Operations.More specifically, our Trades Assistants will:
  • Assist maintenance crews by performing duties related to mechanical or electrical maintenance on heavy duty and light duty mobile equipment, or electrical systems underground
  • Operate power tools and equipment as required; operate mobile equipment to transport materials and supplies
  • Perform related duties as required
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others
  • Must be semi-skilled and have some knowledge of heavy duty, light duty mobile equipment and/or electrical maintenance
  • Experience working in an underground mine preferred
  • Be flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as required
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly
  • Strong communications, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
