We make it a priority to support the aspirations of every individual, with international opportunities, ongoing training and development, and first-class benefits.Williams Operating Corporation - Barrick Gold located near Marathon in Northwestern Ontario presently requires a:Ventilation SpecialistPosition Description:Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Ventilation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the management of the underground ventilation system and a safe operating environment. Working autonomously this role will undertake underground ventilation surveys and inspections of all active mining areas and travel ways. In addition to this, manage the ventilation status of active mining areas, respond to reported ventilation deficiencies, and to conduct quality control assessments of ventilation installations.Responsibilities:

• Visit active work areas to perform vent surveys.
• Respond to ventilation deficiency reports, liaising with the Area Supervisor on a plan of action, and issuing a formal written ventilation instruction.
• Conduct QA/QC audits of installed ventilation systems, conditions, etc. as required.
• Discuss changes in ventilation systems with the Ventilation Officer, Mine Planners and Designers as early as possible to allow an effective evaluation of all possible options for effective ventilation changes.
• Compile and issue high-quality instructions and drawings for installation or repair of auxiliary fans and ducting, bulkheads, doors, regulators, etc. to communicate necessary ventilation work to Operations.
• Monthly monitoring of primary ventilation system.
• Daily monitoring of mine air heating system during winter months.
• Check and maintain functionality of ventilation survey instruments – send out for repair or annual calibration when required. Ensure that functioning backup instruments are available.
• Assist with training of new team members.
• Assist with updating ventilation procedures and standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering or Mining Engineering Technician Diploma
• Driver’s License
• Experience working in Underground Mines is an asset
• Experience in driving light vehicles in underground mine is an asset
• Knowledge in ventilation instrumentation and monitoring tasks is an asset
• Experience with Deswik and ventilation modelling software would be considered an asset
• The ability to work independently – highly self-motivated
• Excellent attention to detail
• A team orientated approach within the workforce and the Hemlo Operations

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
• Capability to multi-task, self-manage, and self-motivate
• Demonstrate strong sense of leadership
