Tata Steel, part of the Tata Group of Companies, is one of the world’s top 10 steel producers and a Fortune 500 company.The opportunityWe are currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our highly skilled Maintenance Operations team to work a 2-week on/off rotation to and from the Menihek region in Labrador, near the town of Schefferville, QC.The main pick-up points are St. John’s, Gander, Deer Lake in NL, Halifax, NS, Moncton, NB, and Montreal, QC.Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible through the application of a strong predictive/preventive maintenance methodology, to supervise maintenance activities related to the overhaul / repair of all site processing plants and equipment. The position incumbent will work closely with the Maintenance Planner.Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise work force to provide direction and leadership to complete assigned work in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Coach & counsel employees on the standards of safety, performance and conduct, and take corrective action as required, including discipline;
  • Manage, schedule and document employee vacation, time off, illness, and training requirements;
  • Raise requisitions for all materials and external services required to execute priority work orders;
  • Evaluate finished work orders for completeness, accuracy, effectiveness and compliance to plan;
  • Assist in the identification of maintenance work by reviewing notifications and work requests for work order creation;
  • Liaise with team members to assess equipment repair techniques to identify areas of improvement;
  • Liaise with site personnel to support development of the maintenance shutdown strategy for the execution of major equipment overhauls;
  • Execute continuous improvement projects that improve delivery of the teams key outputs;
  • Ensure compliance to safe work practices and review/update procedures as necessary;
  • Actively participate in business improvement initiatives;
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Your Profile
  • Red Seal Industrial Trade Certification ;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in supervising maintenance activities in a heavy industrial or mining environment;
  • Experience as a leader in the field of maintenance execution with a sound understanding of maintenance practices in an industrial environment;
  • Highly motivated with knowledge of industry safety requirements and best practises;
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) considered assets;
  • Valid driver’s license.
