Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement, this position will provide support and assistance to implement communications activities with health system partners, Indigenous organizations, and First Nations communities in Nova Scotia.WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Assist with communications initiatives and activities, including public relations, internal communications, media relations, event planning, etc.
  • Coordinate and implement communications strategies and manage projects and/or events
  • Assist in planning, and manage and monitor social media channels
  • Research, write and edit copy for print, website and social media
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of Mikmaw culture and experience with Mikmaw organizations
  • Highly motivated, organized, with problem solving skills
  • Team player, with the ability to work independently
  • Passion, personal alignment, and commitment to Mikmaw health and wellness through self-determination over health resources
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Relevant college or university degree and one to four years experience in communications or public relations roles (or combination of relevant education and experience)
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs and design programs (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Canva)
  • Hold a Nova Scotia drivers license and willing to travel in Nova Scotia
  • Experience interpreting and reporting Google Analytics would be an asset
  • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in the Mikmaw language would be an asset
