Job Description

Basic FunctionPetro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI). an HR Sinclair company is seeking an Accounting Analyst. Reporting to the Team Leader Accounting, the Analyst Lubricants Accounting is responsible for supporting the Petro-Canada Lubricants (PCLI) refinery. This an operational accounting role which includes the generation, input, control, analysis and reporting of financial transactions while applying appropriate accounting controls and ensuring compliance to policies and procedures with focus on operational excellence.Job Duties

  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner and ensuring their integrity through proper reconciliation and analysis
  • Assume increasing responsibilities in interpreting financial variances and underlying issues
  • Prepare refinery month-end analysis by obtaining information from various reports, entering it into inventory and financial models and prepare adjusting accounting entries
  • Lead the refinery performance review meeting with the Senior Advisor Special Projects and present to the Accounting team in the month end review meeting
  • Owner of the refinery manual billing process, issuing invoices and tracking payments. Working closely with Marine and Cash & Banking teams
  • Ensure consistent compliance with IFRS/US GAAP, HF Sinclair policies and procedures, internal controls and SoX, including identification of non-compliances, their investigation and resolution
  • Provide support and analyze Fixed Assets processes and transactions including capital versus maintenance expense determination, supporting Capital Administration, and catalyst and Turn Around support
  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts
  • Support as Finance contact for Finance Master Data and liaise with the Data Integrity Group
  • Be the owner of all Statistics Canada surveys and reporting relating to PCLI, responsible for preparing and submitting accurately and on time
  • Complete special projects as assigned
Experience
  • Minimum of five years working in operational accounting.
  • Working knowledge of SAP (FI, CO, PM, MM, PS) and Business Warehouse/Intelligence preferred
Education Level
  • A minimum of a post-secondary degree/diploma in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Has attained a professional accounting designation recognized in Canada (CPA, CGA preferred)
Required Skills
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP with ability to integrate standards, company policies and procedures, internal controls, operational issues with analytical skills in performing job responsibilities
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong collaboration skills required to support business partners
  • Proven analytical skills, ability to multi-task, and work independently
Work Conditions
  • Office based (hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days work from home)
  • Occasional refinery visits from time to time
  • May be required to work flexible hours during period close
