The responsibilities of this role will also require to assist in day to day accounting tasks, month end process & financial reporting, annual budgeting process and coordination in year-end audits.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure that all internal and external reporting and compliance obligations are fulfilled on a timely basis. Duties and Responsibilities of this role include but not limited to:

  • Prepare claims on a monthly basis by tracking expenditures and forward monthly claims to program managers
  • Track and Report monthly variance of programs’ expenses compared to budgets
  • Update, maintain and reconcile accounting records more particularly AR and deferred revenue accounts.
  • Compile programs expenses data and prepare reports for periodical reporting to funders
  • Assist in month and year end reporting and annual budgeting process
  • Record A/R invoices in the accounting system and maintain funding tracking sheets
  • Organize filing system relating to funders claims, reporting and remittances
  • Perform all other necessary tasks and reconciliations performed in the department
  • Notify if there are any discrepancies to the manager/director and be proactive with changes or improvements to the workflow within the department.
  • Participate in preparing, maintaining, and/or verifying accounting, financial, and statistical records, ledgers, and files.
  • Monitor customers/funders accounts for non/late payments and do follow ups
  • Collect and compile statistical and financial data for special reports, as required
  • Participate in projects as and when needed
  • Liaise with other departments, customers, vendors, programs internal staff and funders
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an accounting and funds administration role
  • Minimum 3 years experience in NFP sector
  • Diploma/Degree in accounting and finance. Enrolment at advance stage in an accounting recognized program will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of compliance with provincial and federal financial regulations
  • Hands on experience in any accounting software, including the ability to import/export data in the accounting system
  • SAGE 300c experience
  • Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including Canadian GAAP, NFP and charity regulations
  • Ability to plan, organize and establish accounting procedures and prioritize work based on month end and year-end reporting deadlines.
  • Sound analytical and interpersonal skills, self-motivated, detail-oriented, problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task are a must.
  • Ability to work as a team member, to establish effective working relationships with all teams, and to display tact and diplomacy in dealing with all the business partners
  • Ability to preserve the confidentiality of company information.
  • Strong communications skills
