POSITION: Administrative Assistant-Enabling Business and Promoting Inclusivity projectTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Casual (until March 31 st 2022)START DATE: July 6 th 2021LOCATION: Sussex Centre, MississaugaREPORTING TO: Manager, Employment & Newcomer Information ServicesSCHEDULE: Mondays to Fridays 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (some evenings and weekends may be required)SALARY: $23.46/hr + 4% vacation payHOURS: VariesBENEFITS: NoSummary:Sponsored by Canadian Western Bank, this project will provide a variety of training interventions, resources, and support services to sensitize employers on their approach in working with a diverse newcomer workforce. It will also help employers to identify and acknowledge issues of underemployment within their organizations and will provide them with exposure/knowledge to help them further support their newcomer workforce as they benefit from: increased cultural awareness, enhanced inclusive actions, and improved communications skills (understanding the nuances of cross-culture communications) and a positive work environment. Workshops and services will be provided virtually, pending local COVID-19 safety measures and policies.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide support to the project with coordinating workshop logistics including outreach, participant registration, technical troubleshooting and assistance, as well as conducting follow-up services with participantsRespond to client inquiries by phone and in-person in a friendly and welcoming mannerContact clients to confirm/reschedule workshop participation as necessaryPerform a variety of clerical duties including filing, typing, photocopying, confidential record keeping and document distribution in accordance with company policies and proceduresAssist in generating statistical reports on a regular basisUndertake other duties assigned by Consultants and/or ManagerQUALIFICATIONS:1-2 years working experience in an administrative environmentProven customer service skills in a busy office environmentWell organized with the ability to enter data with accuracyAdvanced numerical and analytical skillsDemonstrated use of computer technology including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), as well as virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams)Experience in database management and online registration tool management (ie. EventBrite)Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and problem solving skillsDemonstrated organizational and planning skillsAdaptable, flexible and able to work in a team environmentAbility to multi-task, take initiative and be able to meet deadlines
