Analyst, Research and PolicyRegular Full TimeHealth Services – Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention, Harm Reduction ProgramPeel Public Health is looking for strategic leadership and coordination of work related to its harm reduction mandate, including the development and implementation of the Peel Opioid Strategy and a broader Peel drug strategy (e.g. supervised consumption services, safe supply) and to build out the necessary components of a strategy to address the opioid crisis in Peel.We are looking for an experienced Research and Policy Analyst to join our multi-disciplinary team of professionals supporting the harm reduction mandate. You will provide research and analysis, project leadership, and strategic advice and recommendations on the development and implementation of Supervised Consumption Services and related policies, processes and objectives. You will prepare high-quality written and visual materials to support senior decision makers, community partners and stakeholders and Regional and local Councils.What you will do...Monitors, identifies, analyzes and provides recommendations on trends, risks and opportunitiesApplies advanced knowledge of public health and/or technical knowledge regarding population health, social determinants of health, epidemiology and evidence-informed decision makingAnalyzes and interprets complex information to provide strategic recommendations that will guide policy and programming decisionsMonitors, develops, implements and advocates for policies that will have positive population health implicationsProvides expert guidance to the program planning and evaluation processPrepares specialized documentation, technical reports and statistical analysesSynthesizes complex information into a wide range of written and visual communication products such as reviews of research evidence, briefing documents, policy positions and presentationsPrepares and delivers presentations and represents Peel Public Health at local, provincial, federal and international meetings and conferencesDesigns and implements knowledge translation activities related to research evidence, data and policyActs as a lead in research evidence review processesMay assist management by providing work direction, advice, training and/or guidance to staff and studentsWhat we require...Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Science, Policy, Planning, Health Administration, Epidemiology, Nursing, Nutrition or related degreeMinimum of 3 years’ experience in public health preferredExperience in Community Development preferredStrong knowledge in qualitative and quantitative research methods and analytical skills including critical appraisal and appropriate use of evidenceDemonstrated ability to apply advanced knowledge of public health and/or technical knowledge including population health, social determinants of health, assessment of research evidence, epidemiology and applicable legislationKnowledge and experience in developing search strategies and assessing, determining relevance, critically appraising and analyzing evidenceExperience in informing policy developmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information for a variety of audiencesStrong facilitation, project management, partnership/collaboration, planning, problem-solving and organizational skillsCompetence in using Windows, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook programs and reference management softwareLocation: Due to Covid-19, some of our offices are working at limited capacity to protect the health and safety of our employees, clients and community.
