We know the health of people, the planet and our business are interconnected which is why we’re taking ambitious action to tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time, from climate change to access to healthcare and disease prevention.Our PositionReporting to the Regional Sales Director, the Area Business Manager (ABM) is the sales leader for the Primary Care Portfolio franchise and is responsible for achieving sales objectives for our Southwest Ontario business, managing and mentoring our Portfolio representatives in a positive and motivating environment, and collaborating closely with the Portfolio marketing team and cross-functional partners.Responsibilities

  • Leading the development of forward thinking business plans for each promoted product that clearly seeks opportunities and threats to local the business and reflects a sophisticated understanding of the external landscape as well as local environmental issues.
  • Review the monthly performance reports to assess business progress versus expectations, seek new insights to identify new opportunities, to course correct if needed, and to improve the success of the Portfolio business.
  • Builds a positive business environment that empowers behaviours like innovation, knowledge sharing, trying new things and risk taking.
  • Acts as a leader within the Portfolio team, challenging and inspiring the sales representatives, ABM colleagues and the Portfolio cross-functional team.
  • Inspires a great team culture where the team thrives and excels; builds a plan for future recruitment, performance management, mentoring and development, and compensation administration.
  • Manages the team’s budgets, planning of team meetings, and delivering on administration tasks aligned to AstraZenecas ways of working and in a timely manner
  • Collect and report Adverse Events in accordance with AstraZeneca policies and procedures
Qualifications:
  • 8-12 years of commercial pharmaceutical experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA an asset
  • Experience in sales, sales training, marketing or sales management with sales management being an asset
  • Solid understanding of a manager’s roles and responsibilities and their impact on sales rep capabilities across a broad spectrum including therapeutic knowledge, territory management, selling and planning skills, product promotion, customer advocacy, and the patient journey
  • Must be a self-starter, results oriented and standout colleague with superior people and motivational skills
  • Strong leadership skills and passion to mentor and develop others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, specifically the ability to present and communicate effectively amongst diverse groups as well as one-on-one sessions
  • Demonstrated expertise in business planning and project management to set and prioritize resources, goals, and initiatives
  • Strong decision-making, problem solving, and judgment skills
  • A valid Drivers license is required. (Able to provide a valid driver abstract at the time of offer acceptance.)
