Job Description

We are currently accepting applications for an Assistant to Superintendent – Equity, Indigenous Education, Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression & School EngagementReporting to the Superintendent, Equity, Indigenous Education, Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression & School Engagement, the successful applicant will provide office staff workflow co-ordination and administrative support. This experienced individual will be fully involved in ensuring the effective workflow and communications of the Superintendent, Equity, Indigenous Education, Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression & School Engagement’s department including liaising with Principals, Vice-Principals, Teachers, Superintendents, Superintendent’s Assistants, Trustees, Board and Ministry staff and the public to provide and receive information and initiate follow up action with appropriate staff or providing appropriate referrals as required. Providing support to committees, by preparing agenda packages and minutes; arranging and scheduling meetings.Responsibilities will include: coordinating, providing guidance, assigning and monitoring responsibilities of office assistants; composing, preparing and maintaining documentation; liaising with others to provide and receive information; coordinating promotion process; monitoring department budget and grants; assisting with the formatting and proofreading of documents; managing all correspondence received and prepared; managing the Superintendent’s calendar, maintaining a comprehensive filing system; other duties as assigned. The successful applicant may be required to work a flexible work week during peak workload periods, and other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Grade 12, or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an administrative position with demonstrated experience in providing administrative/executive support.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration or a related field is an asset
  • Knowledge of the procedures for the Principal and Vice-Principal promotion processes and Board and Committee agendas
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-racism, anti-oppression and working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
  • Excellent keyboarding skills with experience in a variety of computer applications including MS TEAMS / SharePoint / One Drive; MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Peel Absence Management System (PAM), Financial Information System (FIS), Time Entry, EasyConnect, VISTA, Future Org., Student Information System (SIS), Google Docs and Forms
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and research skills with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Demonstrated coordination, initiative, organization, and planning skills
  • Ability to work within a team and with limited supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet timelines
  • Understanding of Board policies, practices and procedures
  • Excellent notetaking abilities and proofreading skills
  • Familiarity with day-to-day operations and procedures in schools K - 12 including field offices
  • Record of exemplary on-the-job performance while employed by the Peel District School BoardASSET
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration or a related field is an asset
