Job Description

Full Time (37.5 hours/week)Multiple positions availableFile #22-018EveryMind (formerly Peel Childrens Centre/Nexus Youth Services) is looking for highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic mental health professionals to work with various programs and services to provide a continuum of mental health interventions to children/youth and their families.EveryMind is an accredited children’s mental health centre that provides a continuum of high quality mental health services for children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges.Summary of Infant, Child, Youth and Family (ICYF) ServicesThe Child and Family Clinician will provide a continuum of mental health interventions, ranging from brief interventions with individual children/youth and/or their caregivers, and short-term family counselling, to therapeutic groups with children/youth and caregivers. These interventions are designed to improve child/youth development, functioning and resiliency in school, home and the community. These services will be delivered in a variety of settings and locations. Additionally, this service will work closely various stakeholders to ensure the mental health needs of children/youth and families in the Peel community are being addressed.Salary - 5-step range of $61,032 - $73,081 over 5 yearsPlease note that hiring salaries are commensurate with experience and generally start at the beginning of the range.Why work at EveryMind

Job Responsibilities: The incumbent will:
  • Provide skilled assessment, formulation, and treatment services to children/youth and their families/caregivers by employing a variety of systemic and evidence-based/evidenced-informed treatment approaches (including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT skills, and the trauma-informed as well as attachment-informed frameworks) to enhance parent/family and child/youth interactions and functioning at home, in school and in community;
  • Develop, implement and regularly evaluate treatment plans according to individual client and family/caregiver needs, goals, strengths and cultural values;
  • Facilitate the enhancement of the child and family’s informal and formal supports;
  • Effectively design and implement a holistic crisis plan to ensure safety within the treatment, home, school or community settings;
  • Provide case management and outreach services to ensure coordination and delivery of services that meet changing needs of clients and families;
  • Provide transitional support and discharge planning to clients exiting service to ensure sustainability of treatment gains;
  • Provide group services as required;
  • Provide in-person, virtual and telephone counselling sessions as needed;
  • Demonstrate a passion for working with children and families and possess working knowledge of social service, educational, and employment systems and resources within Peel;
  • Participate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team in In clinical team meetings, program and agency level meetings.;
  • Maintain comprehensive case records and data for all clients in accordance with the organizations’ standards and timelines.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or health related field with a minimum of three years experience in direct service to children and families ORBachelor’s Degree in Social Work/ health related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario;
  • Possess strong clinical assessment and treatment skills with a commitment to family engagement and client-centered service utilizing a strength-based approach;
  • Embraces diversity and demonstrates cultural awareness with critical self-awareness and understanding of engagement with diverse cultures.
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal, team and conflict resolution skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with internal/external stakeholders, clients and their families;
  • Proven ability to be self-motivated and comfortable working in a variety of settings, i.e., school, home, community;
  • Proven ability to build relationships of trust in a timely manner with a variety of clients and professionals in numerous settings;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation for children/youth services;
  • Strong technology skills and experience with client care information systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, and comfortable with the use of apps;
  • Utilize high levels of oral and written communication skills, time management, and critical thinking skills with a strong understanding of role boundaries. Proficiency in languages in addition to English is an asset;
  • Have a valid Ontario Driver’s license (Full G Class), use of a vehicle with comfort in driving throughout the Peel region (and surrounding areas);
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, according to client and program needs;
  • Group facilitation experience is an asset.
  • A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical screening (including TB test, MMR, TD, Polio Vaccination), is required;
