If you are passionate about what you do, motivated to improve the health of the community, committed to excellence, quality and patient safety we would like you to join our Better Together team!Overview:In your role as Paediatric Clinical Educator in the Women’s & Children’s Health Program, you will be responsible for planning, leading, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive education program for all members of the Interprofessional team. Reporting to the Women’s & Children’s Program Director, you will work in collaboration with others on the leadership team, with physicians, nurses and others to promote clinical excellence in the delivery of high quality, safe, patient- and family- centred care. You have a reputation for setting and achieving high standards for yourself and you role-model and support others to achieve success. • Plan, deliver, and evaluate orientation and continuing education to members of the interprofessional team
• Collaborate with team members to develop creative strategies for learning
• Use program planning and evaluation framework to deliver, improve, and respond to educational needs and offerings
• Create learning environments that support professional growth and accountability in a variety of settings (clinical, classroom, simulation, etc.)
• Monitor and evaluate integration of learning into clinical practice
• Partner with members of the interprofessional team to establish recommendations and plan for improvement and/or achievement of clinical excellence
• Provide coaching and mentoring to staff; have insight and courage to address quality and risk issues in a timely and constructive manner
• Inspire professionalism and contributes to the development and sustainability of a healthy and safe work environment
• Collaborate with other clinical programs and external partners to plan and deliver learning sessions that are centred around the needs of children and their families
• Evaluate and monitor proper and safe use of clinical equipment
• Actively and effectively participate in the following:
• Organizational and Program committees as required
• Regional educational and planning activities as required
• Hospital-wide education and planning as required

Qualifications:

• Baccalaureate degree required; Master’s degree preferred (or in progress)
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Minimum 5 years clinical paediatric experience required, preferably in a tertiary and/or regional hospital setting
• PALS instructor preferred
• MOCK simulation experience preferred
• Proficiency using EPIC preferred
• Experience in teaching nursing, allied health professionals, physicians, and children and families strongly preferred
• Formal education and experience in program planning and evaluation preferred; demonstrated knowledge of the principles of adult learning required
• Proven track record of demonstrating clinical excellence, creativity, patience, respectful interactions and diplomacy
• Proven commitment to evidence-based practice and reflective practice
• Proven success and effectiveness working individually and as a team member; has excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills and proven effectiveness as coach and mentor
• Demonstrated ability to lead during times of change and role-model effective change management
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice for Nursing and Allied Health Professionals
• Competence with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel
• Commitment to organizational values including excellence, compassion, and courage
• Excellent attendance and performance record required
