If you are passionate about what you do, motivated to improve the health of the community, committed to excellence, quality and patient safety we would like you to join our Better Together team!Position Summary:A high achieving, self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills and demonstrated commitment to People Centred Care. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Patient Experience. The coordinator will work with Patient and Family Partners to match them with engagement opportunities with our clinical and enabling programs. These opportunities may include focus groups, surveys, co-designing and planning of current and future services. In this role, you will be the main contact for Patient and Family Partners to learn about our engagement program and assist in the recruitment and retention process of these volunteers. You will also be the main contact for hospital staff and leaders to learn about the patient and family engagement process.Some key responsibilities include:

  • Review and triage requests for patient & family engagement
  • Lead initial recruitment of Patient and Family Partners and support selection process for program/initiatives.
  • Provide orientation and coordinate any initiative-based training as needed
  • Provide mentorship and support (Build relationships, address communication related challenges/accommodations, ongoing education and training)
  • Keep data base of Patient and Family Partners with intake information
  • Provide ongoing record keeping of engagement opportunities across THP
  • Maintain and update documents/toolkits for patient & family engagement
  • Facilitate engagement-related evaluations for continuous improvement
Key Qualifications:
  • Lived experience as a patient and/or caregiver (including care at THP) preferred
  • Degree/diploma or experience in community outreach
  • Strong belief and passion for patients as partners in care
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in adult education/teaching groups an asset
  • Previous work with volunteers an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Strong organizational and effective time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) in a professional manner
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues and problem solve with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, Excel, Zoom
  • A professional and friendly attitude combined with a positive work performance and attendance record
  • Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, self-direction and the ability to prioritize and multi-task
