Job Description

Company DescriptionIt is an exciting time to join VTX Consulting Services Inc. (VTX), the Canadian Subsidiary of The Vertex Companies, LLC. (VERTEX), an award-winning Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) firm that offers Environmental, Forensic, Engineering, Construction, and Surety solutions. Headquartered in Milton, Ontario, VTX is growing and expanding the delivery of services across Ontario.Job DescriptionEnvironmental Scientists (ES) visit client sites and conduct Phase I assessments, Phase II sampling and collection activities (soil and water), and remediation. The ES will analyze the results of the samples (from the lab) and write detailed client-facing reports based on the results.

  • Participate in the execution of environmental site assessment (ESA), remediation, risk assessment, compliance monitoring, and excess soil management projects
  • Author reports and other documentation, as assigned
  • Conduct field work and assist with project co-ordination activities
  • Perform tasks, as requested, efficiently and accurately, using standard methods and techniques
  • Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
  • Represent VTX to its clients in a professional manner
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned within areas of expertise
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience, Environmental Engineering, or a similar field
  • At least one (1) year of experience in technical activities directly related to ESA, remediation and/or excess soil management projects (i.e., drilling supervision, well installation, soil and groundwater sampling, etc.) preferred (recent graduates will be considered)
  • Strong understanding of Municipal. Provincial and Federal regulatory drivers
  • Ability to perform complex tasks, handle multiple priorities, and navigate exceptionally to effectively meet internal and external client schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong applied experience with computer operations and standard software packages: (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Strater, Surfer, and ACAD)
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management, balancing immediate and long-term work with varying priorities and deadlines
  • Comfortable in both an office and field environment, depending on assignment priorities
  • Valid driver’s license is required for business travel
