Job Description

The Hadoop administrator is responsible to monitor all the Big Data clusters and take care of the health of the Hadoop services and Fix any services bad health. Help application team issues related to Big data infrastructure.Responsibilities:

• Hadoop Administrator will be responsible for administering, supporting, governing and maintaining multiple big data environments across the regions.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of Big Data architecture and the entire product suite like Hive, Spark, Impala, Yarn, Sentry etc., administration policies, techniques and methodologies.
  • Provide technical assistance to application and business teams to solve complex problems, maintain system infrastructure requirements, enhance and configure system integrations, and ensure on-time delivery of solutions.
  • Prior experience with project management is preferred.
  • Install, upgrade and configure EAP platform in Linux environments(Hadoop components).
  • Maintaining Big data clusters healthy on high priority.
  • Taking care of EOVS, Patching, Firmware upgrade, GEMS etc. on time.
  • Continuously improve the platform through tuning, optimization, governance, automation, and troubleshooting of Big Data cluster Environments.
  • This is a multitasking role and the individual is expected to support multiple Application teams as well as a large and diverse Business user community.
  • Automate product installation and configuration for rapid deployments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build a portfolio of capabilities for recommendation and use in analytical product development across Citi lines of businesses.
  • As subject matter expert in big data environment, provide L3/L4 support and guidance to respective applications.
  • Publish best practices, configuration recommendations, deployment and security architecture to internal customers.
  • Create project plans, perform impact analyses solve/work high impact problems/projects, and provide resolutions to restore services
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) post restoration of service
  • Capture the repetitive tasks and work with engineering team for an automation.
  • Provide technical/strategic direction and act as advisor/coach to other team members.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firms reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• 6-10 years of experience in the IT industry with at least 3-5 years of experience in the Hadoop technology
• Understanding of how unix operating system works.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Effective analytic/diagnostic skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audience

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
