In addition to having core business operations in Energy and Sustaining Capital industries, Bantrel also provides EPC services to clients in the Power and Mining & Metals industries, Canada-wide.Our global reach and local touch is demonstrated by our affiliation with our parent company, Bechtel Corporation, one of the largest EPC companies in the world, and with McCaig Investments, a Calgary-based holding company with longstanding ties to the local business community.Job DescriptionSummaryHatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $5.3-5.7 Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project.Reporting to the Project Services Manager, the Information Manager is responsible for developing, organizing and administering the activities and projects in support of Information Management Programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for following project and client standards and provide technical expertise to define, implement and manage new or improved processes. This position requires experience in the engineering industry, understanding of site activities and managing teams located in local and international offices.Position Responsibilities

  • Manage and support the document management team ensuring adequate staffing is in place as well as conduct interviews when additional staff are required on the project.
  • Coordinate and assist in the development of project objectives/plans, quality control standards, contributing to training programs, and assisting in the planning cycle.
  • Support the maintenance of applications by providing advice, guidance and interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Resolve problems by analyzing and advising on policies, procedures and technology utilizing information from open and classified sources.
  • Test new software and system functionality in order to identify requirements and recommend changes to processes as well as to information systems.
  • Provide client service by responding to inquiries and providing advice regarding processes and procedures.
  • Deliver awareness sessions/presentations related to the Information Management program.
  • Prepare communications for the project and any 3rd parties as required.
  • Interpret client policies/procedures and communicate/advise management on the impact to IM program.
  • Provide input and assess the integrity of applications in accordance with user requirements and application demands.
Skills and Experience
  • Understanding of/ experience working in large complex organizations, ideally in engineering and construction.
  • Experience with relevant Document Management Systems, such as SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant for Operations, SharePoint and other collaborative project management tools.
  • Competency in continuous improvement, change management, and a flexible approach.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and willingness to work hands-on to achieve objectives in a relatively “flat” organizational structure.
  • Ability to cover a wide subject-matter range and difficulty level from thinking strategically to troubleshooting detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Minimum 10 years records and information management experience, including experience working in engineering and construction environments.
  • Hands on site experience considered an asset.
  • Must understand structure of databases and have experience with document management and electronic document management systems.
  • Experience in virtual and classroom style training and conducting demonstrations and presentations to large groups.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or relevant field
  • Records & Information Management certification would be considered an asset
