Job Description

POSITION: Junior Social Media/Marketing Assistant, VACA (Career Loans) ProgramTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Summer Student (Canada Summer Jobs Program)START DATE: July 6, 2021LOCATION: Sussex Centre, MississaugaREPORTING TO: Project Manager, Career LoansSCHEDULE: Mondays to Fridays 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.HOURS: 35 Hours per WeekBENEFITS: NoSUMMARY: The Junior Social Media Marketing Assistant, Career Loans, will work with the Web team to research and revise website content and on-line self-service resources for the Career Loans Program. The successful candidate will focus on marketing research and social media activities to serve the employment needs of Internationally Trained Individuals (ITI's) in Alberta and Saskatchewan.To be eligible, youth must:be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment*be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

  • The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESWork with the Career Loans team to research client information changing needs in relation to employment focused services.Work with the Career Loans web team with creating dynamic written, graphic, and video content to maintain social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, You Tube, Vimeo, Newsletters).Create and schedule engaging social media content, customized for each channel.Coordinate with Counsellors to ensure relevant material is covered on digital platform.Coordinate with Counsellors to get video client testimonials and success stories.Work with the web team in liaising with service provider partners and collaborators for cross-marketing, exchanging copy and graphic content to be shared on the others’ platforms.Work with the web team to expand social media marketing, reach and engagementWork with the webmaster and Career Loans Content Developer to produce accompanying ad hoc graphics for newsletters, blog, website, and social media content.Support Virtual Information & Financial Counsellor to produce recommended resources for clients.Archive important and applicable links to employment information and opportunities in accordance with the needs of clients of the project.Additional administrative duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS:Excellent English written and oral communication skillsPractical skills in using MS Office products,Practical skills in using a computer and information technologyPractical experience in using Social Media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Vimeo)Ability to work independently, and working to deadlinesAble to work well in a team environmentNICE TO HAVE:
  • Experience with manipulating graphics via software such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop
Video editing skillsExperience with digital marketingJob Type: Summer Student (8 weeks - Canada Summer Jobs Program)Salary: $14.25 per hour + 4% vacation pay
