Job Description

Role SummaryThe Manager, Inventory and Warehouse is responsible for the direct management and handling of all inventory and warehousing distribution functions. They are accountable for inbound and outbound freight, as well as ensuring staff adherence to legislative, safety and organizational policies and procedures. The Manager, Inventory and Warehouse will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills.Snapshot of Responsibilities:

  • Manage the reception, handling, distribution, and storage of all product, and material that come in and out of warehouse.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate inventory counts.
  • Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties.
  • Plan warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization and minimize utilization of external warehouse.
  • Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
  • Manage an annual budget for inventory warehousing functions across the organization.
  • Develop and/or enforce corporate policies regarding security and safety in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials.
  • Manage 5s activities to maintain cleanliness and organization across warehouse and inventory areas.
  • Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters; make adjustments where necessary.
  • Maintain performance metrics and report on regular basis to senior management.
  • Assess the need for, and arrange the purchase of, moving equipment like trailers, forklifts, crash pads, dollies, and so on.
  • Manage a team of supervisors and associates, including hiring, delegation, training, performance evaluation, coaching, disciplinary actions, and termination.
  • Coach/develop direct reports and perform annual performance reviews.
  • Adhere to and promote the adherence to all Corporate, Quality and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required.
What you bring to the team:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience within a inventory and warehouse environment.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Post-secondary education in business preferred. With a focus on manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, supply chain management, inventory control, or materials management.
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management and transportation management.
  • Familiar with ERP and inventory/warehouse management systems.
  • Experience with radio frequency ID systems (RFID), bar code systems, and electronic data interchange (EDI) is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret and act upon complex instructions.
  • Solid project management skills are essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good financial and business awareness.
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills.
  • Team leadership and teambuilding abilities.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Excellent planning and resource allocation skills.
