Job Description

Basic FunctionReporting to the Operations Director, the Area Team Leader is a key leadership role of the Mississauga Lubricants facility. The Area Team Lead is accountable for ensuring safe, reliable and compliant operations within the Production Area while leveraging and developing the hourly and staff workforce, and managing the expense budget.Job Duties

  • Accountable for meeting Plan of Operations, identifying and coordinating investigation and response to production threats
  • Drives improvements with respect to safe, reliable and compliant operations
  • Oversees investigations into incidents related to safety, environmental compliance and/or equipment failures
  • Manages bargaining unit employees – ensure compliance to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, address issues in a timely manner, participate in resolution of grievances
  • Resolves all operations personnel issues in area of responsibility
  • Oversees development of both staff and hourly employees including compliance with the Performance Based Progression program for bargaining unit employees.
  • Lead Phoenix Lubricants Production & Utilities Cross Functional Teams (CFTs) to effectively prioritize Maintenance planning and execution within each area
  • Lead troubleshooting initiatives and engage appropriate cross-functional resources to analyze and correct operational and equipment problems and opportunities
  • Manages operations expense budget for area of responsibility including analysis, reporting and identifying cost savings opportunities
  • Maintains and analyzes key KPIs for area of responsibility, identifies opportunities and threats
  • Accountable for ensuring operational readiness for Turnarounds
  • Participate in management system audits, with emphasis on environmental 14001 compliance
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretionExperience
  • 10 or more years of experience in lubricants and refining operations or oil and gas industry is required
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a complex, dynamic operating environment
  • Deep understanding of operations, production, process safety standards is preferred. Experience or familiarity with Utilities, Refining/Lubricant process is an asset
Education Level
  • A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and direct applicable work experience will be considered
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management, or a related field is preferred

  • General understanding of corporate governance practices, handling regulatory compliance including Provincial, Federal and various other government authorities
  • Proven leadership skills including mentoring, decision-making, delegation and motivating others
  • a significant amount of experience in the energy industry and exposure to a Collective Bargaining Agreement is preferred

Outdoor duties under wet and/or oil contaminated conditions, at both below grade and elevated positions.
