The Credit Valley Hospital is a teaching hospital of University of Toronto, and the radiation oncology program is recognized by its high quality, high efficiency and innovations in safety and patient-centered care. You are an experienced medical physicist who demonstrates passion and innovation for advancing medical physics.OpportunityThe Radiation Treatment Program (RTP) of the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre treats approximately 4000 patients per year, utilizing six radiation treatment suites and two CT Simulation suites. The RTP is a fully integrated and electronic program. The Cancer Centre is equipped with six Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators (two with HDMLC) as well as two Philips Big Bore Brilliance CT-simulators. A fully networked infrastructure for treatment planning on Varian Eclipse on a Citrix platform for seamless treatment planning and delivery. The Varian ARIA oncology information system provides electronic data for Radiation Oncology. Current clinical programs include Linac (HyperArc) and cone-based Stereotactic Radiosurgery (Brainlab) as well as a state-of-the-art Brachytherapy suite (Elekta Nucletron, Flexitron afterloader).The successful candidate will be responsible for all clinical and technical aspects of the medical physics program as well as being a team player. Medical physics is integrated in the RTP in relation to its clinical, education and research mandate as defined by the mission and objectives of Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario and Trillium Health Partners.The medical physics department currently includes twelve medical physicists, four full-time and two part-time physics associates, four electronics technologists, as well as a shared administrative assistant; all of whom report to the Head of Medical Radiation Physics. An active Medical Physics Residency Program (one position) is supported through affiliation with the University of Toronto Department of Radiation Oncology (UTDRO) CAMPEP accredited residency program. Academic appointment may be sought through the UTDRO. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all clinical, educational and research and development activities of the medical physics department. Clinical activities include acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment, quality assurance, and clinical treatment planning and delivery support. All medical physicists at Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre are active leaders in technical improvement of all aspects of the RTP.Qualifications
