Bantrel performs design and procurement services from our Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto offices and delivers construction management and self perform construction services at various Client sites across Canada.Our global reach and local touch is demonstrated by our affiliation with our parent company, Bechtel Corporation, one of the largest EPC companies in the world, and with McCaig Investments, a Canadian owned private company with longstanding ties to the local business community.Job DescriptionSummary:Hatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $5.3-5.7 Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting project.The Package Coordinator has responsibility for all activities associated with purchase of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and or control systems vendor packages for the mining area. The responsibility includes preparation of scope of work and spec index, technical specifications (if within their capabilities), coordination of technical requirements with the engineering team, as well as commercial activities from the functional analysis of the User Requirement, through purchase and delivery of technical certified vendor data/ documentation to support the engineering activities and and handover of the package to expediting and site procurement team for assuming delivery. The Package Coordinator is the single point of contact across the project functions and between the project and the bidders / vendors / suppliers. The Package Coordinator takes this responsibility until the package is handed over.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Area Manager/Area Engineer
  • Oversees package from “cradle to grave” – from specification, development, tender, contract award and monitoring
  • Accountable for all activities associated with his/her equipment/contract package including:
  • Responsible for preparation of package scope of work
  • Manages completion of all technical activities from preparation of tech. specs. through to commissioning and handover of documentation to Client
  • Initiates and manages inter-disciplinary coordination
  • Responsible for preparation of technical bid evaluation
  • Liaises with contracts & procurement (C&P) team to ensure technical aspects of package are accounted for in commercial bids
  • Technical single point of contact between Engineering team and C&P team
  • Once package is awarded, technical single point of contact between Project and package supplier/contractor
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a project engineer/manager in a heavy EPCM environment, experience in a mining setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of project delivery, including the activities, interfaces and interdependence of all project disciplines.
  • Familiarity with data-centric design tools eg. SmartPlant is an asset;
  • Knowledge of general office software and tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Sharepoint).
  • Experience with greenfield and brownfield interfaces.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong personal commitment to Safety and Quality.
  • Ability to work and communicate positively within a team.
