Bantrel performs design and procurement services from our Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto offices and delivers construction management and self perform construction services at various Client sites across Canada.Our global reach and local touch is demonstrated by our affiliation with our parent company, Bechtel Corporation, one of the largest EPC companies in the world, and with McCaig Investments, a Canadian owned private company with longstanding ties to the local business communityJob DescriptionBHP’s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP’s first potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP’s global portfolio. Jansen’s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.The Jansen project has established an Integrated Project Team (IPT) between BHP and HBJV to execute the mining scope. The IPT promotes shared accountability between BHP and HBJV, trusting people selected for each role as they work towards safely delivering the mining scope on time, on budget, and with high quality. The IPT is effective in work planning, rapid and empowered decision-making, and continuous improvement through a joint construction and operational mindset. The IPT provides members the opportunity with new perspectives, ways of working, and long-term career progression opportunities.ROLE PURPOSE:The CG1001 contract will equip Jansen’s two shafts for production and construction of theunderground mine. Cementation was awarded the contract and will mobilize to site at the start of 2022.The CG1001 Package Coordinator will

  • Assemble required specifications
  • Manage procurement packages
  • Be responsible for work package readiness
  • Liaise between the Project and Cementation engineering teams
  • Participate in engineering design reviews
  • Chair the weekly engineering progress meeting with Cementation
  • Follow up and respond to Technical Queries from Cementation
  • Review, comment, and sign-off Cementation’s temporary design documents
  • Participate in weekly Contract and Procurement meetings
JOB DIMENSIONS:Decisions
  • Consulted on (pertaining to the rest of the Mining IPT scope):
    • Decision to pursue warranty claim
    • Confirming authority to mine
    • Safety and risk prioritization (decision to stop or change work due to safety requirements)
    • Bid evaluations
    • Decisions regarding quality concerns (NCR’s, PAR, CAR etc.)

  • Direct, day-to-day supervision and oversight from the Lead Package Coordinator Shafts

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Demonstrates high HSE and quality standards in all activities
  • Clearly defines the battery limits for all CG1001 scope and ensures clarity throughout the CG1001 scope of work (SoW)
  • Oversees engineering deliverable completion and equipment delivery, holding Project Functions accountable for delivery on-time and within budget
  • Maintains effective action trackers and holds people accountable
  • Oversees the readiness work to ensure the contractor is effective and efficient from day 1 in the field
  • Ensures the contractor is correctly resourced and the quality is maintained
  • Responsible for defining and managing handover documentation
QualificationsSKILLS / JOB KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A recognized bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within shaft operations, engineering, or construction
  • High attention to detail, motivation, and commitment to quality outcomes.
  • Ability to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment utilizing agile methodologies
  • Working knowledge of engineering, contracts & procurement, construction, project controls, quality, health & safety, change management, and interactions for major capital projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including functional managers
  • Demonstrates spirit of partnership when engaging contractor representatives.
  • Always seeks out mutually beneficial solution, with win-win mentality.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive environment for their team while grounding to the Jansen core values
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various stakeholder groups
