For more information, please visit www.thermofisher.com.What will you doManages projects and supports key operational excellence initiatives primarily in Production within the Toronto or Whitby Region Operations site.Responsibilities:Operational Excellence ProjectsAnalyzes/defines operational Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities primarily within the Production Dept. by conducting detailed operational, value stream and financial analyses, interviewing key personnel, and observing operations as directed by the Manager PPI Production.Based on the assessment of opportunities, creates specific proposals for operational improvement projects to senior management, including basic cost-benefit analysis.Directly leads and/or manages approved operational improvement projects, ensuring projects achieve desired objectives.Maintains projects on time and budget, reporting to Manager PPI Production, manages expectations and risk, and ensures post-implementation benefits are realized.Calculates savings realized through projects, working with Finance and Project sponsors to achieve the agreed final financial impact of the project.Provides coaching and support to other project leads (typically Green Belts) as directed by the Manager PPI Production.Operational Excellence ProgramSupports the development of the PPI culture by using the various methodologies and tools such as lean manufacturing, six sigma, pull manufacturing, total productive maintenance, waste reduction in scrap, cycle time, Work in Progress (WIP), scrap, labour utilization.Builds relationships with ThermoFisher leaders to understand their business objectives and priorities, and develop supporting improvement initiatives;Develops a deep understanding of ThermoFisher manufacturing sites’ capabilities;Stays abreast of new developments in business process improvement methodology and best practices, including learning from other market leaders and industries;Acts as an internal consultant for sharing and implementation of PPI best practices primarily within the Production Dept.Assists in the knowledge sharing and training of the Production staff, both Processing and Packaging, Material Handlers, Runners and Packaging Mechanics on PPI principles.How will you get thereRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Sciences or Business (with a focus on Operations Management or Project Management)1 year of related experience post-University graduation.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.Strong communication skills – verbal, written, presentation.Ability to work with and influence a wide range of levels in the organization - from executive level to new engineers.Ability to establish positive working relationships in a global, international organization.Ability to think and work at a “strategic” level as well as at a “project” level.Proficiency with the English Language.At Thermo Fisher Scientific, each one of our 75,000 extraordinary minds has a unique story to tell.
