Job Description

Project Manager Health Performance & AccountabilityHealth Services, Strategic Policy and PerformanceStatus: (1) Contract Full Time - 15 MonthsSalary Range: $96,785 - $120,979 per annumWork mode: Hybrid * see below for more details about this work mode.Location: 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga, ONHours of work: 35 hours per weekThe Project Manager leads well-defined projects that improve current levels of performance and/or improve existing processes, services or programs across the Health Services department. Given current health system priorities, the project manager will work with internal and external stakeholders to operationalize a Transitional Behavioural Support Unit in one of Peel Region’s long term care homes.This position will support the successful implementation of transitional clinical services and emotion-based dementia care to stabilize expressive behaviours and enable transition to long term care homes or community settingsWhat you will do in this role:

  • Support the Health Leadership and Divisional Management Teams to build capacity across the Health Services department to continuously improve processes
  • Lead project team(s) in a matrix environment
  • Ensure all phases of project delivery are performed within standards, timeframes and budget requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of a project
  • Provides subject matter expertise and/or technical or professional advice if appropriate
  • Coordinate the logistics (e.g. preparation of tenders and contracts, develop project plans, work schedules and determines priorities) or operational elements (e.g. budgets and resource requirements) for well defined projects
  • Determine priorities and resource allocation
  • Work with clients to define business requirements for projects and write Project Charters (and Business Cases, if required) and obtain approvals from the Project Sponsor and/or the Steering Committee
  • Design the overall project strategy, create, execute and control project plans, manage project change control process, and administer the projects budget
  • Provide regular reporting to the Manager, Director, Project Sponsor, Steering Committee, and Divisional/Departmental Management Teams or other Regional Committees and other stakeholders, as appropriate
  • Motivate project team(s) to work as a cohesive unit and ensure the completeness of the projects products
  • Design and implement project change management plans
  • Manage project risk
  • Resolve strategic issues or escalate to the appropriate level
  • Close the project and conduct post-implementation review
  • Develop and deliver presentations to division or department and steering committees
  • Keep abreast of best practices in project management, process improvement and process management
  • Contribute to fields of expertise both internally and externally
What the role requires:
  • University degree in Business, Public or Health Administration combined with 3 to 5 years experience in project management
  • Working knowledge of project management processes utilizing the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) by PMI
  • Experience applying Organizational Change Management principles and methodologies
  • Ability to provide specialized advice to support process improvement projects within Health Services
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities in a very dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to develop project budgets
  • Strong skills in the use of project management software applications (such as Microsoft Project)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with and motivate multi-disciplinary teams and to work with senior management, other divisions and staff
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build collaborative environment
  • Ability to influence and negotiate without direct authority
  • Excellent facilitation skills with sound knowledge of various facilitation techniques
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to maintain focus, energy, commitment and positive attitude in the face of uncertainty, change and resistance.
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in a variety of situations and with various individuals or groups.
  • Ability to encourage others to seek and act upon opportunities for different and innovative approaches to problems and changing client need.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification by Project Management Institute (PMI) is an asset

Work Mode & Job Location: at 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ONIn this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements.
