Job Description

Quality Technician Level II - ConversionDescriptionWe are looking for a talented Quality Technician Level II to join our team specializing in sales for our #NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Assists Engineers in carrying out production-related and inspection jobs; assists in monitor materials quality in processing plants and making the required adjustments; maintains and supports documentation and records. Works under moderate supervision.
  • Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.
  • Conducts simple tests (for example on electrical function, reliability, packaging quality).
  • Records results and prepares simple technical reports.
  • Provides product and component testing using a range of measurement equipment.
  • Assists customers in understanding/interpreting product specifications and application of measurement data.
  • Participates in measurement uncertainty studies for measurements associated with measurement or calibration results.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and calibration of the measurement and test equipment.

  • Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, “Metrology” e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.
  • Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.
  • Quality Process Management - Applies and manages methods (e.g. SPC, Capability studies, Layered Process Audit, inspection, test) to ensure quality of Cummins products, processes, and services.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience
  • Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
    • Communicates effectively with Quality team and Cummins management to inform any quality related issues identified at all stages in production;
    • Performs inspection of incoming/outgoing parts using various measuring tools and verification as per design and quality documentation requirements;
    • Performs quality control of non-conformance material issued to production - planning and execution of IFS transactions for returning and reissuing material to production;
    • Coordinates/distributes daily tasks of the other QTs assigned to various areas in production and monitors the work progress;
    • RMA - performs incoming diagnosis on returns from customers, investigates for countermeasures and generates final diagnostic reports. Maintains RMA track sheet on server;
    • NCR - identifies defects on incoming materials, performs root cause analysis, generates reports, contacts suppliers and coordinates returns of non-conformance materials;
    • Performs initial, in-process and final QC checks on sub- and final-assemblies;
    • Performs quality inspection on and final packing of finished products;
    • Creates and maintains all quality related documents and records on the ERP system and Cummins internal server;
    • Performs ongoing production checks to ensure proper procedures are executed in production;
    • Provide support to both production and engineering projects;
    • Maintains project part spreadsheets on excel to meet quality documentation requirements;
    • >3 years of Quality Control experience;
    • Minimum Post Secondary Education;
    • Computer software skills (including Microsoft office) >3 years;
    • Able to read Blueprints and technical SOPs >3 years;
