Job Description

Job Summary: I am looking for someone to accompany me and participate with me in a free 8 week American Sign Language course. In this 8 week course, participants will learn beginner skills in American Sign Language. This course is for participants aged 12+. This is a fun and interactive program for anyone interested in learning conversational sign language! Skills Learned: Communication, Information Literacy, Social SkillsCourse location: Iroquois Ridge Community Centre in OakvilleDate: Mondays only, October 17th - December 12th, 2022Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PMThis job is a temporary job but could lead to additional time and scope of the role. However lets just start with ASL course and see where that leads.Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Friendly and energetic
  • Communicate effectively and creatively to help expand participation in a live in-person course
  • Be available all 8 sessions
  • Up to date first aid certificate is an asset
  • Vulnerable Sector Check may be required
Desired Work/Life Experience:
  • Interest in languages and desire to have fun learning introductory ASL
Education:
  • minimum: High School Diploma
Skills:
  • Ability to patiently interpret both verbal and non verbal communication
  • Recognize and capitalize on teachable moments to expand life experience
  • Communicate observations and feedback on activity participation
