Req Id: 405423At Bell, we do more than build world-class networks, develop innovative services and create original multiplatform media content – we’re revolutionizing how Canadians communicate.If you’re ready to bring game-changing ideas to life and join a community that values bold ideas, professional growth and employee wellness, we want you on the Bell team.Job Summary:Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Architecture, the incumbent is a capacity and performance specialist who helps troubleshoot, collect and analyze performance issues for the network, security, VoIP, servers and application environments in the course of delivering Bell internal network.Responsibilities:

  • Support L3 network and security team members with service assurance and provisioning activity, as assigned or paged out on.
  • Creates and analyzes Capacity and Performance reports on various internal and external customer services.
  • Makes recommendations (systems upgrades, increasing links...) or takes action (involvement of the various operational teams concerned) based on analysis results.
  • Responds to various requests: incident, service, change, and problems.
  • Work with other teams within and outside Bell to operationalize new technologies and products.
  • May be called to act as a Capacity and Performance expert for various internal groups/customers.
  • Defines and maintains the different thresholds violation monitoring rules.
  • Supports and maintains the Netscout platform (tracking and analysis, configuration and ad-hoc reporting).
  • Learns and applies the work processes, procedures and instructions made available to him/her so that operating activities can run smoothly.
  • Produces documents on various processes, customer files, and work instructions.
  • May be asked to deliver training or provide support to co-workers on a daily basis.
  • Engage and escalate if necessary to the appropriate partners and business units for support assistance/engagement, root cause and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Deep packet inspection of application behaviour for service assurance.
  • Post Mortem investigation/analysis.
  • Assist in the planning and optimization of network growth, capacity and performance within and between our IP enterprise networks in a cost-effective manner.
Qualifications/Competencies/Skills:
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or the equivalent, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of experience in computer science and network technology, preferably in a telecom environment (Network, VoIP, Servers, security, proxies, Server Load-balancing).
  • Extensive working knowledge of Netscout nGenius tool, Wireshark and tcpdump.
  • A solid understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, network protocols, SNMP and MIBs/OIDs.
  • An understanding of server environments (Linux, Unix, Windows) is an asset.
  • An understanding of IP Telephony (Avaya and Cisco technologies) is an asset.
  • An understanding of network management tools such as CA-eHealth, APG, CAPM, Zabbix,Solar winds or Nagios is an asset.
  • Sniffer certification or training is an asset.
  • Ability to do deep packet inspection analysis include payload analysis.
  • Solid understanding of Visio, Word, Excel
  • Experience with industry practices and standards (ITIL, Agile, Six Sigma…)Has an analytical mind and is structured, organized and able to synthesize information when tackling a challenge.
  • Experience with Python Programming, and Ansible is an asset.

Working Conditions:
  • Work hours are Monday - Friday, normal 37.5 hours weeks based.
  • After hour duty pager on rotation within the team.
  • Travel is minimal/negligible.
