Overview:Our growing Maintenance function and team is located by our Corporate Office at Toronto Pearson Airport where we operate out of three hangars in addition to our two Fixed Based Operation (FBO) locations in Kitchener/Waterloo and Simcoe. We continue to scale our operations to meet the needs of our current and growing customer base. Our employees have the opportunity to work on a variety of different aircraft performing a wide array of tasks.The Role:The Technical Manager (TM) is a senior level Engineer who oversees on-time aircraft services with a focus on minimizing aircraft downtime and maximizing usability and marketability of assigned aircraft, while maintaining positive owner-client/customer relationships.The TM is responsible for the technical and cosmetic management of the aircraft, takes a proprietary interest in their assigned fleet, and acts as subject matter expert.This position works closely with key internal stakeholders including the Client Account Managers to ensure Aircraft Owners’ needs are understood and met. Acting as a reference for Aircraft Owners TMs are known as “the expert” in charge of their aircraft’s disposition.Reporting to the Fleet Manager, TMs will also manage directly a small group of AMEs and/or AME Apprentices providing employment and performance management.What you will do:
  • Manage all maintenance activities for assigned aircraft ensuring planning, service and repair in accordance with the applicable standards of airworthiness
  • Review, update, and ensure accuracy of maintenance tracking systems
  • Dispatch aircraft about control of defects, conformity with type & CAR’s
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to coordinate effective service for assigned aircraft
  • Respond to urgent requests for support and/or information from owner-clients and other stakeholders as required
  • Inspect aircraft for technical and cosmetic conditions, interacting with owner-client as necessary
  • Collaborate with and oversee internal staff and partner responsibilities for successful work execution
  • Managing direct reports by evaluating performance, providing periodical feedbacks, developing skills through coaching, maintaining employees’ records and dealing with upcoming employee related issues
What you bring:
  • Aircraft maintenance diploma (M) from a Transport Canada recognized organization combined with ten years aircraft maintenance; you are a licensed AME-M2
  • An excellent working knowledge of all aspects of maintenance including mechanical, structural, and avionics systems
  • Ability to manage complex maintenance projects from start to completion
  • Solid technical problem-solving skills and ability to operate effectively in crisis situations
  • Ability to oversee and allocate people resources while providing positive support, performance coaching and development
  • Strong collaboration skills combined with solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • A customer-focus and continuous improvement, always looking for ways to build client relationships and add value
  • High self-motivation with the ability to work within deadlines
  • Experience and Ability in the supervision of staff, managing performance, motivating and maintaining teamwork while working in stressful situations
