Job Description

We are dedicated to working closely with our clients to help them build healthy sustainable communities and organizations and provide safe and reliable drinking water to thousands of Ontarians each day.Effective, January 1, 2022, the updated salary range for this position is $1295.70 to $1631.63 per week in alignment with the recently ratified OPSEU Unified 2022-2024 collective agreement.What can I expect to do in this roleReporting to the Director, Infrastructure Technology & Solutions, in this role you will:

  • Provide a range of technical support expertise with the Agencys business and operational hardware and software infrastructure in person, by e-mail or by telephone.
  • Provide first level end-user support including: technical assistance with network infrastructure related issues, in the use of applications, diagnosing and resolving user problems with software and hardware. Specialized knowledge and support of all Corporate operational software, hardware, and operating systems.
  • Identify, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve problems with the aim of eliminating recurrences.
  • Instruct end users in the use of computers and applications, office systems, communications and business applications.
  • Maintain documentation of time tracking, incident tracking, implemented solutions, and client follow-up, to allow for analysis of the Units activities and OCWAs systems.
  • Provide detailed accurate documentation of infrastructure layout and functionality.
How do I qualifyTechnical Knowledge and Skills
  • Information Technology Standards and Guidelines, best practices, standards and controls, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Principles and process standards to ensure that output meets with expectations, and is consistent with IT plans and goals.
  • Knowledge of client/server environments, and LAN/WAN networking
  • Knowledge of hardware/peripherals installation and cabling to assist in installation, configurations and testing of system hardware and disconnect workstations and peripherals; and to identify malfunctions and take corrective action
  • Knowledge and experience installing, configuring and managing Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 10).
  • Advanced level of expertise using Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • knowledge and Hands-on experience with Lotus Domino administration
  • Knowledge of Citrix/VMWare Thin Client virtualization technologies
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
Skills and Ability
  • Provide timely and courteous responses to telephone, e-mail, and web-generated support requests, including problem analysis, initial resolution and/or escalation.
  • Reason and problem-solving skills to provide technical and trouble-shooting services to end users in operation/use of computer hardware and software.
  • Good communication skills, teamwork and excellent customer service skills
  • Advanced analytical interpretive reasoning and problem solving skills to assess, identify and coordinate/manage problems and incidents; to recommend solutions to meet user needs; to provide insight into impact of problems or planned changes; to conduct research, evaluate and recommend solutions to ensure compatibility with the current system and future changes.
  • Analytical and evaluative skills to develop materials and deliver training that is customized to end-users.
  • Assists in the user account administration, maintenance and auditing.
  • Perform system backups and recovery
  • Tracks of service requests/incidents by entering data into service desk system and ensure response, work commitment and resolve times are within SLA guidelines (entire life cycle).
  • Educates and instructing users on an ad hoc basis in computer systems use, productivity technique, office automation software, client servers concepts etc.
  • Maintain regular contacts with other technical staff and external services providers to identify and resolve technical issues
