Through QM Points, a partnership between QM and Points Athabasca Partnership, an indigenous-owned civil and construction contractor, the Gunnar Mines project oversees the demolition of process asbestos-laden buildings, as well as the safe removal and packaging of all chemical, physical, radiological, and biological hazards within an abandoned uranium mine. QM’s special projects scope is ongoing and currently, also includes the ground-breaking, innovative work being completed at the Toronto Port Lands. The PLFP project is centered around arranging renewable energy and boosting positive climate design on a city-wide scale to foresee a more sustainable future.Due to the continuous expansion and growth of the company with exciting projects constantly coming under our wing, QM Environmental invites applications for the role of Vice President, Finance to join our team.Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Finance will bring a strong strategic lens and a deep commitment to people leadership. The Vice-President is responsible for overseeing the company’s finances and plays a central role in the organization’s short- and long-term activities, including merger and acquisitions (M&As), budgeting and forecasting. They will oversee all project and operational finance activities, including the setting of policies, financial reporting and analysis, and using financial data to make informed and excellent decisions. They will be directly involved in leading the financial analysis and aspects of M&A activities and communicating with ownership. The successful candidate brings confidence, dynamism, a collaborative style, and credibility; has a natural ability to influence; and, has experience with mitigating risks and maximizing financial performance in partnership with other senior colleagues. They also possess a motivational leadership style, are highly adaptable and solutions-focused, and have built a reputation for being a high achiever and creative problem solver.The following skills/experience are seen as possible markers for the candidate most likely to realize success in the role: a) several years of experience at the level of Finance Director or above, plus years of project based accounting experience preferably gained within the construction industry or a closely-related industry; b) previous M&A experience c) a strong handle on all aspects of financial analysis and reporting; d) familiarity with a variety of field concepts, practices and procedures, as well as experience with a range of integrated financial systems and models; e) experience driving productivity across various business lines, as well as experience with mergers and acquisitions; and, f) experience undergoing and/or facilitating transformational change management within a highly complex environment, g) experience communicating with owners; Board experience is an asset.QM Environmental is a staunch advocate for diversity in all its forms, and especially welcomes applications from members of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) community, women, people with disabilities, the LGBTQ+ community, and those of diverse intersectional identities.
