Job Description

OverviewThe Warehouse Supervisor oversees the daily work schedules of warehouse employees and strictly performs and executes a combination of hands-on duties including: receiving, replenishment put away and cycle counting. The primary functions of this position include, but are not limited to, determining space requirements for put-away, creating where needed, scheduling work assignments with efficiency and safety in mind while meeting internal demands, and ensuring that the warehouse and equipment are maintained in good, clean, and organized working order.Snapshot of Responsibilities

  • Supervises, motivates and assigns specific responsibilities to warehouse staff to ensure customer and business needs are met.
  • Serves as a ‘working supervisor,’ meaning regularly performs daily duties within the warehouse alongside staff including receiving, replenishing, put away and cycle counting, data entry, etc.
  • Monitors employee attendance, productivity, and other performance indicators and provides counseling, mentoring and guidance to staff as required.
  • Ensures orders are picked, packed, and shipped in accordance with designated cut-off times.
  • Coordinates work with the Warehouse Manager and/or Materials Supervisor as required.
  • Plan warehouse layout and space requirements in order to prevent loss or damage, and to achieve full warehouse optimization.
  • Take into account full implications of freight turnover, size, weight, and other factors when allocating warehouse space.
  • Supervise a team of warehouse employees, including hiring, delegation, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and termination.
  • Conduct periodic spot-checks of inventory levels, supplies, or equipment.
  • Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action.
  • Implement and monitor performance metrics for shipping and receiving.
  • Develop and/or enforce corporate policies regarding security and safety in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Investigate causes of lost or damaged shipments and other matters; make adjustments where necessary.
  • Comply with the Health & Safety policies and legislation and promotes a healthy and safe environment
  • Adheres to all company and quality procedures and policies and promotes adherence to all company and quality procedures and policies
  • Perform other duties as required
What you bring to the team:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience within a warehousing and distribution environment.
  • 6 months to 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
