Job Description

POSITION TITLE : Cleaner; Bus and facilities (2 positions available)BUSINESS UNIT : Kings Transit Authority29 Crescent DriveNew Minas, NSREPORTING TO : Bus Maintenance CoordinatorSUMMARYUnder the direction of the Bus Maintenance Coordinator, the cleaner is responsible for the cleaning of transit buses and the facility in New Minas in accordance with a set schedule.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral

  • Clean the interior building spaces in accordance with a set schedule.
  • Perform floor care duties, such as stripping, sealing, waxing, etc.
  • Clean the interior and exterior of the Transit Buses.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment
  • Handle cleaning products and equipment in a safe manor
  • Perform snow and ice control duties as required or assigned by Bus Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Bus Maintenance Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a clean Driver’s Abstract. (No more than one demerit)
  • Where available, provide a letter from most recent employer’s insurance company detailing any prior incidents/claims while insured on employer’s policy.
  • Must be willing and capable of obtaining a Class 2 drivers license with air brake endorsement. (Training provided)
  • Previous janitorial/cleaning/detailing experience considered an asset.
  • First Aid CPR/AED, or be able to achieve within 6-months of hire. (Training provided)
  • Ability to learn and conform to safety regulations, policies, procedures, legislative acts, best practices, and training
  • A high degree of analytical thinking, attention to detail, organization skills and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical Demands:
  • Physical labor involving lifting, bending and reaching.
Environmental Demands:
  • Evening/night shift work and shift adjustments in response to operational requirements
  • May be exposed to extreme weather conditions
  • May be exposed to heat, cold, solvents, or noise
  • All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Criminal Record Check with positive results.
