Our office in Niagara Falls, Ontario, is looking for a hard-working, results-oriented and professional Junior Purchasing Agent - Electrical to join the corporate purchasing team. Summary of the Role:Reporting to the Corporate Purchasing Manager, the Junior Purchasing Agent - Electrical is responsible for ensuring timely and effective procurement of material, equipment, assemblies, tools, and subcontracted services associated with the Construction industry, with a primary focus on electrical commodities and services. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of sound supply chain and purchasing principles, along with an understanding and aptitude for technical, quality, safety, and business practices.Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and understand technical, quality, safety, schedule and commercial (cost, warranty, contractual and legal terms) requirements of each applicable procurement activity.
  • Execute existing procurement strategy to satisfy requirements.
  • Prepare and issue RFQ #39;s to suitable suppliers in accordance with company guidelines, project requirements, and applicable strategies.
  • Review and assess quotes, negotiate best value and terms with suppliers, and generate documentation to justify supplier selection.
  • Create and award purchase orders to suppliers in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
  • Manage and administer suppliers from purchase order award through successful completion of purchase order deliverables including schedule and supplier submittals for acceptance as applicable.
  • Address and mitigate any areas of supplier non-conformance, inadequacy, or disputes.
  • Support the identification and development of new suppliers, and development of existing suppliers.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of the purchasing/transactional lifecycle is required.
  • Excellent communication skills are required (both written and verbal).
  • A relevant business-related diploma, bachelor #39;s degree or equivalent is an asset.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or similar is an asset.
  • One to three years of relevant experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience in the construction industry, or supporting industries is an asset.
