Job Description

Helical Pile Solutions is a deep foundations contractor with over 30 years of experience in the industry, recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd. (“Java”).Java staff have over 50 years of experience building some of Canada’s largest electrical infrastructure projects. Positioned within the Java Systems Team, and reporting to Java’s Director of Systems, the Systems Application Support role is responsible for managing the resolution of application and system issues that arise within Helical Pile Solutions Ltd.The role requires both business skills and technical IT knowledge and demands an ability to manage multiple high-level tasks under pressure.RequirementsThe Systems and Application Support role often requires responding to technical problems that occur abruptly and require immediate solutions. Knowing this, the following duties and responsibilities include:

  • Possessing specialist knowledge of operating systems, devices, applications, and software
  • Providing technical support to teams within the organization, and to external clients when required
  • Assisting with systems integrations
  • Managing tickets within the company provided ticketing system and ensuring a comprehensive database of queries and resolutions is kept up to date.
  • Maintaining and updating technical documents and procedures, system catalogs, configurations, and changes
  • Maintaining a knowledge base of common solutions and best practices
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues
  • Managing coordination of Systems and IT resources where required
  • Delivering regular and customized training to various teams
  • Preparing maintenance plans and upgrading schedules for the organization’s systems
  • Developing reports for various teams
  • Be the go-to expert for the business regarding their applications, system-level software, and general computing tools.
  • Provide timely and effective responses to user inquiries and requests.
  • Actively participate in Change Management Meetings as required for systems updates, integrations, and new application roll outs
KSA’S (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES, and PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)
  • Technical Skills
  • Deep understanding of business software applications, system architecture, and databases
  • Strong understanding of Company ERP systems and experience with system integration using API’s
  • Desire for continuous learning of new technical skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS365 applications and SharePoint, including the ability to train users in best practices and develop customizations.
  • Proven database experience (e.g. SQL, SQL Server, SSRS, Access)
  • Experience with web development (JavaScript, PHP, HTML) and low-code tools (AppSheet, Power Apps).
  • Familiar with programming languages (e.g. VBA, C#, PowerShell) for troubleshooting and application support
  • Knowledge of operating systems (esp. Windows), networking, and cloud computing
  • Able to configure and troubleshoot hardware components (servers, workstations, etc.)
  • Good understanding of best practice security standards and controls
