Job Description

SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSETo work with the Food and Beverage Manager to achieve a motivated and organized restaurant and lounge team. To provide the level of service and guest care to meet company standards and to contribute to the overall profitability of the restaurant/food outlets.MAIN DUTIES1. Monitor servers, bartenders and bus persons adherence to all service standards.2. Supervise service of guests, being watchful of signals from guests in need of service.3. Read daily communication sheets from previous shift and prepare one for the following shift. Check floor plan for appropriate coverage.4. Check restaurant and lounge for cleanliness and set up. Check service stands and aisle areas. Check tables for cleanliness and proper set up.5. Abide by all Territorial, Federal and Corporate liquor requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.6. Communicate daily with Food and Beverage Manager regarding special events, house counts, etc.7. Assist Food and Beverage Manager in conducting menu classes and taste panels.8. Communicate both verbally and written to provide clear direction to staff.9. Ensure pleasant greeting/prompt seating of all guests in accordance with guest requirements while facilitating fast and professional service by fair distribution of tables/guests to team members.10. Maintain standards by ensuring total guest care.11. Assist in liquor inventory and month end reporting as requested.12. Focus team members on achievement of targeted average spends for food and liquor.13. Ensure prompt clearing/resetting of tables, assisting as necessary, in order to maximize on covers and guest satisfaction.14. Ensure the telephone is answered in a professional and courteous manner with accurate recording of reservations.15. Ensure up to date pricing and proper use of computer systems with accurate recording, processing and billing of food and beverage items by all team members.16. Ensure staff are competent in cashiering duties as appropriate achieving company standards in relation to the acceptance of cash, credit card and guestroom charges and opening/closing duties relating to the cashiering function.17. Maintain a pleasant and clean restaurant and service area through adherence by all team members to the routine cleaning schedule.18. Ensure all staff are trained and certified in alcohol service.19. Schedule staff to assist with food and beverage set-up/service/clean down for functions/ meeting rooms when required20. Cover Food and Beverage Manager in their absence.21. Encourage team members to seek feedback regarding guest satisfaction during service while taking a positive action and maintaining a good working relationship with the kitchen.22. Ensure room service/take-out orders are processed, set up and delivered to the room/collected by the guest achieving response time and presentation standards.23. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.24. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:1. Completion of secondary school is required.2. Completion of a college or other program related to hospitality or food and beverage service management is preferred.3. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the food service sector is required.4. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.5. Ability to use point of sale.6. Ability to lift/carry weight up to 50 pounds.7. Ability to push/and pull carts of products weighing up to 150 pounds.8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.9. Ability to effectively deal with all contacts, some of whom may require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.10. Must have the ability to communicate in English.11.
