And, we value your commitment to treat every person on our team with respect, helping us to operate safely, protect the environment and make a positive contribution to our local communities.ABOUT OUR OPERATIONAgnico Eagle’s Hope Bay Operation is located in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut, approximately 685 km northeast of Yellowknife, 650 Km northwest of Meadowbank Complex and 125 km southwest of Cambridge Bay.The acquisition of TMAC Resources by Agnico Eagle was officially completed on February 2, 2021. The property and operations are remote but not isolated, serviced by both a port and airstrip. Hope Bay is an 80 km by 20 km Archean greenstone belt that has been explored by BHP, Miramar, Newmont and TMAC over a period spanning more than 30 years. TMAC began producing gold in early 2017 from Doris, its first mine at Hope Bay, and processed gold at the Doris processing plant which originally had nameplate capacity of 1,000 tpd and expanded to 2,000 tpd midway through 2018.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, the Environmental Field Assistant is part of the Environmental department and will assist the geologists with the movement and sampling of core. This is an entry-level environment position that provides introduction and training on basic methodology.Your Next Challenge:

  • Completes tasks with minimal supervision, under the guidance of the Environmental Coordinator and Environmental Technician, employing knowledge of environmental procedures, techniques and regulations.
  • Maintains and calibrates field instruments including adjusting meters for accuracy using known standard chemicals for calibration.
  • read, understand and execute tasks according to relevant Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) that support site operational requirements incorporating regulatory and license conditions as needed.
  • Supports environmental contractors to perform field activities.
  • Organizes and maintains various seasonal environmental field equipment, boats, motors, tools, bear kits, various field safety equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with company HSLP and Environmental and Social Responsibility policies and procedures.
  • Using various field instruments for collection of data and measurement while maintaining appropriate sampling records in hazards in accordance with company QA/QC Plan.
  • Maintains records for environmental compliance.
  • Works with site based staff to audit worksites, shop areas and drill sites for environmental compliance using inspection checklists and develop corrective actions to protect human health and the environment.
  • Collects samples for analysis of air, soil, and water in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operate light vehicle, snow machines and boats, mounting and dismounting boat engines, pushing and pulling throttle levers.
  • Exposure to environmental hazards while investigating spills and collecting samples.
  • Potential exposure to extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Informs, involves and engages key internal and external stakeholders appropriately; develops and maintains positive relationships and represents Agnico Eagle Mines positively in the community.
  • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and takes action to ensure that unsafe practices or non-compliant behaviours do not occur.
  • Other such duties as may be assigned.
  • The job is comprised of 80% field-work and 20% office-work.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Completed or in progress technical or technological diploma in Environmental or related science, plus 1 year of relevant field experience.
  • Experience using various hand or power tools, including augers, saws, drills etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Arctic experience is an asset.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Yellowknife, NT.
