The Meadowbank Complex, in operation since 2010, which uses the processing facilities and infrastructure at the Meadowbank mine site, combined with the mining and infrastructure at the Amaruq site. the Meliadine underground mine, in operation since 2019 located near Rankin Inlet, NU is our second mine in Canada’s Low Arctic. Our third mine, the Hope Bay mine, located near Cambridge Bay, NU is located in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut. It has over 90 regional exploration targets across an 80 km greenstone belt. To support the Nunavut projects, Agnico Eagle has staff based out of 2 regional offices, located in Val d’Or and Mirabel, Quebec.YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Inuit Employment Coordinator, the Inuit Employment Counselor is responsible to support the Nunavut Employment Team through the development and implementation of the recruitment strategy aiming at successfully recruiting and hire new Nunavut Land Claim Beneficiary employees. She/He will collaborate with multiple external and internal stakeholders and will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved in a way that promotes and respects Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Provide support and leadership for the Inuit Employment Team;
  • Support daily activities of the Nunavut Employment Team;
  • Participate in the development of specific recruitment process and tools adapted to Inuit Employment needs;
  • Participate in all steps of the Inuit recruitment process (screening, interviews, etc.)
  • Liaise with candidates and hiring managers during the recruitment process;
  • Participate in the recruitment strategy implementation to ensure optimal recruitment of Nunavut Land Claim Beneficiary workforce;
  • Develop and maintain an updated workforce list, which will include a comprehensive database of the work experience available;
  • Support and/or create opportunities, such as job fairs, information event and career activities, which would allow Agnico Eagle to connect with potential employees;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key organizations such as the Regional Inuit Association, Colleges, Governmental entities, and service providers to support the workforce list;
  • Work with internal clients such as Agnico Eagle’s Human Resources Department, Contractors and Department Managers to share and respond to their labour needs.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related fields, or related diploma/certificate combined with experience;
  • 2 years experience in Human Resources, more specifically with recruitment process management;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Mining Industry experience would be a strong asset,
  • Strong organizational/time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to be flexible and creative, as well as adaptable to change;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Candidates must attain a passing grade on a SPEEXX Language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 5 days of work, followed by 2 days for rest; a combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in either Val d’Or or Mirabel, QC, or Nunavut Communities. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
