Intent of the processThe intention of this process is to establish a pool of partially and fully qualified candidates that may be used to staff indeterminate or term positions within the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).Job SummaryPlanning, management and conduct of complex qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to assist in the development and improvement of programs, policies and performance measurement. Provision of advice and services that meet the diverse needs of various corporate functions and external stakeholders, including improving corporate data availability and presentation for internal decision making and public use. Provision of specialist advice for the design and implementation of data collection tools and processes as well as on alternatives.Statement of QualificationsEducationCompletion of postsecondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experienceForeign Credential Validation against Canadian StandardsExperienceSignificant experience in querying, analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data and presenting synthesized results to management and the public, or for research purposes.Experience in modern data management methods, techniquesExperience in working with cloud-based resources and storage would be an assetKnowledgeKnowledge of NSERC mandate, policies, objectives and funding opportunitiesThorough knowledge of the theories, principles, methods, techniques and practices related to the creation of databases, data capture methodologies for performance measurement, the conduct of complex quantitative and qualitative data querying and analysis and the reporting of results and conclusionsThorough knowledge of various computer software packages such as R, Python, Excel, SPSS, Access, Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI,Knowledge of cloud-based platforms such as MS Azure, AWS and Google Cloud would be an assetCompetenciesClient service and delivery orientedShow initiative and being action-oriented to achieve resultsWork effectively with othersAbility to work within tight timelines and adapt to changing prioritiesAnalytical Thinking (analysis and problem-solving).Demonstrating integrity and respectEffective oral and written communicationDemonstrating flexibilityCondition(s) of EmploymentSecurity Clearance: ReliabilityNote: The COVID-19 vaccination requirement is currently suspended where employees of the NSERC/SSHRC are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and attest to their vaccination status.We are committed to inclusive, barrier-free recruitment processes and work environments.
