As technology is introduced, support will be provided to front line care providers and staff to facilitate this transition. Clinicians and managers will be given feedback on the patient safety and quality outcome for which they are accountable. This focus will support The Ottawa Hospitals educational and research agenda.The Ottawa Hospital and 5 regional partners formed the Atlas Alliance which successfully implemented a new hospital information system (HIS). The EPIC system across the organizations on June 1 of 2019 and is currently implementing across 4 additional partners.Rotation/ShiftsDays, 8 hour shifts. Overtime may be required.Responsibilities

  • Managing large I.S. application implementations, upgrades and replacements;
  • Managing large teams of I.S. professionals, users, external consultants and vendors
  • Preparation of project business cases including identification of business ROI and Clinical value;
  • Project plan and status report development and delivery;
  • Analyzing, implementing and managing clinical and business process and/or application solutions in a large, complex organization;
  • Implementing and managing a multitude of application software/hardware platforms and operating systems.
What you will doThe Ottawa Hospital is seeking a high energy, flexible, dynamic healthcare leader to join its team in an exciting opportunity to serve as the Manager, HIS Delivery. This position will be Reporting to the Director, HIS, Clinical and Support Solutions Delivery. The Manager serves as a key advisor to the Director HIS, Clinical and Support Solutions Delivery to direct and ensures the successful deployment, implementation, and maintenance of the HIS for The Ottawa Hospital and the Atlas Alliance partners. The manager will be responsible for the management of the following EPIC teams of analysts and the deliverable therein– Access, Billing and Account and Provider Management. The EPIC applications under this managers accountability are: Grand Central, Prelude, Resolute hospital billing, professional billing, Health Information Management, Identity, Cadence, Welcome, Account and Provider management. The new manager will work closely and collaboratively with the other Manager, HIS responsible for other EPIC applications.Basic Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree or a combination of relevant and education and experience;
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years experience leading teams;
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years experience in an IS position;
  • Experience with complex clinical solutions and business practices, which includes billing/access (including registration/scheduling/identity/HIM) in both an inpatient and ambulatory care environments;
  • Experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of solutions - including both the software solution component and the process/change management requirements;
  • Experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of clinical software solutions;
  • Ability to assess and guide teams on business process flaws and redesign opportunities;
  • Resource and budget planning experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience with supporting clinical systems in a production environment;
  • Ability to research IS process and solution issues and products as required;
  • Knowledge of current and future systems requirements;
  • Knowledge of Project Management methodology;
  • Knowledge of business practice re-engineering processes;
  • Knowledge of Hospital and healthcare business;
  • Knowledge of Hospital and departmental policies and procedures;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively handle major sensitive issues and to manage and motivate staff;
  • Excellent leadership, management and coaching skills;
  • Exhibits an in-depth knowledge of, and experience in formulating an accurate assessment of emerging client needs and in optimizing service accessibility and delivery to clients;
  • Demonstrated capacity to build effective relationships with diverse TOH leaders and stakeholder groups;
  • Strong organizational and time management skill and ability to provide direction to others in managing competing priorities and balancing multiple tasks with often unpredictable and short deadlines;
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable for roles, responsibilities, and outcomes to ensure the integrity of The Ottawa Hospital and the completion of deliverables in a timely manner;
  • Strong focus on customer service, teamwork and quality;
  • Ability to successfully work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to assess performance and identify performance improvement opportunities;
  • Ability to troubleshoot and implement solutions or improvements;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels;
  • Excellent knowledge of job-related software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and translation tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an environment using the EPIC HIS;
  • Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
