With the help of volunteers, donors, and community partners we provide a solid foundation for better, healthier lives for families in Nova Scotia.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a friendly and energetic individual to join our Build team as the Oxford Build Site Supervisor. The Site Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day oversight and operation of our Oxford build site and leadership of our build volunteers, trades, teachers, students, and staff. Operating primarily in a field capacity, the Site Supervisor also assists with project planning, acquisition of product and trades, and relationship development with inspectors, build partners, and the community at large.Responsibilities: · Deliver all aspects of construction supervision in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Habitat for Humanity Nova Scotia and the laws and regulations governing construction in Nova Scotia· Lead, support, instruct and supervise all build volunteers, teachers, students, staff, trades and crew leaders in the construction of homes according to planned scope, timelines, and budget· Take a hands-on approach to homebuilding, actively engaging in the construction process· In collaboration with staff in other departments, engage with volunteers and partners to provide a positive and productive experience on the build site· Communicate with local building inspection department/authorities and coordinate all required inspections· Support the Build Manager in the completion and submission of all permit applications as required, including any due diligence· Support the acquisition of construction materials, labour, and donations of products and services in collaboration with Habitat staff and community partners· In collaboration with Build Manager, acquire sub-contractors as required for the build site· In collaboration with Build Manager, deliver on all home warranty requirements· Inventory and safely maintain all construction equipment and tools to CSA and Labour Standards· Work in compliance with all applicable health and safety acts and regulations· Champion and monitor build site health and safety practices in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and prepare, submit, and act-upon incident reports; provide intervention as required, ensuring the safety of everyone on site· Collect, review, and retain invoices and packing slips for timely submission to accounting department· Recommend and implement improvements to affiliate process and policiesQualifications: · A self-motivated, encouraging individual with a positive attitude and genuine desire to have a positive social impact on the Oxford community· A team player who knows how balance volunteer support with production timeliness· Strong knowledge and experience in all facets of residential construction· Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Building Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other applicable legislation/regulations· Ability and desire to foster positive relationships with volunteers and community members· Ability to empathize with the populations Habitat serves· Strong leadership and communication skills· Sound judgement and prioritize abilities· Superior organization, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills· Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision· Flexible, versatile, and easily adaptable to changing work demands and schedules· Keen attention to efficiency and effectiveness· Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid drivers license· Willingness to work flexible hours, as necessaryContract length: 4 monthsApplication deadline: 2021-10-12Expected start date: 2021-10-12Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, ContractSalary: $20.00-$25.00 per hourSchedule:
