Position:Waste Management TechnicianCompetition number:2022-102Location:Oxford County Waste Management Facility - SalfordEmployment Status:Temporary Full-Time (Estimated start: Jan. 2, 2023 for Approx 12 months)Reporting to:Coordinator of Waste ManagementUnion affiliation:Non-UnionWage range:$29.66-$37.08/hr ($61,692.80-$77,126.40 annually)Position SummaryTo assist with the monitoring, reporting and operations of current waste and recycling collections, waste diversion programs and waste management activities occurring within Oxford County.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College diploma in Environmental Studies (Geography, Planning, Waste Management, Environmental Science/Engineering) or equivalent work experience.
  • Good working knowledge of handling and disposal requirements of household hazardous waste including the operations of a municipal household hazardous waste depot, classification of hazardous waste and manifesting of hazardous waste as per Ontario Regulation 347 and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and MS Office programs.
  • Good working knowledge of pertinent Provincial Environmental and Waste Management legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal/written/verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License is required.
