Job Description

French Elementary Teacher/Tutor: Permanent Part TimeFRENCH ELEMENTARY TEACHER/TUTOR: PART-TIME IN-PERSONOxford Learning Pickering is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable French teacher who enjoys working with students in Grades 1-8 French Immersion. Teachers in our Destination Français Program offer individualized instruction, guidance and support to students to improve their French academic skills (oral communication & comprehension, reading, writing and grammar), thinking skills, learning strategies, and study habits. This opportunity offers 6-12 hours of rewarding teaching experience per week. Excellent training, teaching material and ongoing support are provided.Candidates for this position must possess the following:

  • BA or BSc and a Bachelor of Education Degree (or candidate)
  • Teaching or tutoring experience
  • Passion for teaching and working with children
  • Excellent French oral & written communication skills
  • Organization skills and multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to motivate students and build their confidence
  • Variety of flexible teaching strategies
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Candidates must be available 2 evenings per week starting at 4 or 5 pm throughout the school year. Summer hours and Saturday mornings are also available. Living or working in Durham is advantageous. A dedicated and passionate teacher who thrives on helping students succeed will enjoy this role.Only local applicants (eg.
