Job Description

High School English Teacher / Tutor: Part-TimeHIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER/TUTOR: PART-TIMEOxford Learning Pickering is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with students in Grades 7-12. Teachers in our HS Advantage Program offer individualized instruction, guidance and school support to students who want to improve their English skills and grades, critical thinking skills, learning strategies, and study habits. This opportunity offers 6-9 hours of rewarding teaching experience per week. Excellent training and ongoing support are provided.Candidates for this position must possess the following:

  • BA (English) and BEd Degrees (or candidate)
  • Teaching or tutoring experience
  • Perfect English language written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with the HS English curriculum and expectations
  • Ability to motivate students and build their confidence
  • Variety of flexible teaching strategies
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Interested candidates must be available two evenings per week beginning at 4 or 5 pm. Summer hours and Saturday mornings are also available. A dedicated and passionate teacher who thrives on helping students succeed will enjoy this role.This could be an in-person or online opportunity. Living or working in or near Durham Region is advantageous.
