As a department, we work to promote Nova Scotia as Canada’s premier fish and seafood province.About Our OpportunityUnder minimal direction of the Director, you will provide comprehensive, high level secretarial, administrative, and clerical services and support to the Inland Division to facilitate the effective and efficient functioning of the Division’s operations.Primary AccountabilitiesYou will increase office efficiency by providing general office administrative, inventory control, and facilities management support functions for Pictou office as well as the three provincial fish hatcheries. You will also support the Division’s OHS lead, coordinate, review and format Divisional correspondence and take lead roles in project related activities which require administrative support. You will prepare and coordinate all financial transactions, procurement processes as well as coordinate the Division’s records management responsibilities. As the first point of contact for the Division, you will act as an information resource for general inquiries for internal and external clients and serve as support for the Division’s online sportfishing licence system. This position may also take a lead role in website related updates.Qualifications and ExperienceThis role requires one year secretarial/business administration diploma, and three years related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable. Must demonstrate superior communications skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of government officials and the public, and ability to determine priority of various tasks with limited supervision from the Director. Proficiency with Microsoft Office’s suite of programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel), records management and database management are required.
