Social Workers are primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The social determinants of health are embedded in social work theory and practice and are the focus for the dynamic and interactive process of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Social Workers build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.QualificationsBachelor of Social WorkRegistration with the Nova Scotia Association of Social WorkersTwo (2) years’ related clinical experience requiredExcellent communication skillsAwareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an assetAbility to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organizationDemonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partnersCompetencies in other languages an asset, French preferredSuccessful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.PLEASE NOTE: Applicants relying on education and experience equivalencies must demonstrate such equivalencies in their application.
