Job Description

Advocate Printing and Publishing, in Pictou Nova Scotia, is seeking to hire a production supervisor to support its production team. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this person will help lead, guide, and direct our production team at our Pictou Plant. Supporting training and development, safety, quality assurance, efficiency, etc. are critical to the success of the Production Supervisor and the achievement of the production team goals.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise department workflow, staffing, and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance of health and safety regulations, and ability to implement programs to improve safety culture.
  • Work closely with the maintenance, scheduling, and planning teams to meet daily operational objectives.
  • Maintain records, report on KPIs, provide feedback on productivity and performance.
  • Ensure cleanliness of department and machines is maintained.
  • Support the development and review of SOP’s.
  • Provide leadership, direction and coaching to the team.
  • Be cooperative and promote inter-departmental assistance.
Skills and Experience
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership skills and the ability to work in a team.
  • Experience with production planning, analysis and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong aptitude working with production equipment, machines, and employees.
  • Passion to conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
