• Assisting the Manager and Section Head, Healthamp; Safety Services in the implementation of the Occupational Healthamp; Safety Program, specifically in operational safety and industrial hygiene.
• Provide specialist support to line managers, workers, contractors, to help ensure that management #39;s responsibilities related to occupational safety and industrial hygiene are fulfilled.
• Regular duties may include:

o Provide industrial safety expertise for operational and demolition activities.o Develop hazard identification and mitigation techniques for operations and work control.o Characterize the site hazards, develop inventories as per regulations and site procedures.o Maintain worker exposure inventories, and support the health center in performing hearing testing and scheduling medical baselines.o Perform monitoring for worker exposures to occupational safety and industrial hygiene hazards as required.o Review and assist with work being planned and performed for contractors to ensure compliance with all company and government regulations, to ensure consistent approaches to work onsite.o Work with line supervision and employees to ensure safety is integrated into all site activities.o Identify problem areas from participation in workplace inspections and accident investigations and makes recommendations to line management for improvement.o Under the guidance of the OH amp;S Program Management, develops and maintains occupational safety programs, policies and procedures, guidelines and training materials.o Develop and delivers effective and efficient safety training, either directly to employees, or to line supervision so they can instruct their own employees.o Assisting line management with incident investigations that identify apparent causes, root causes, and provides appropriate recommendations to prevent recurrence.o Assumes responsibility and accountability for special projects as assigned by the OH amp;S Program Manager.o Acting as delegate for Section Head of H amp;SS as required.o Apply risk management principles in order to grade and remediate hazardous situations.o Foster and promote the WL Near Miss program.o Promote Safety Culture by being a role model and setting the safety standard on site.o Attend and actively participate in Fact Finding/Rapid Learning investigations.o Acting as mentor to new employees, and visitors to our site.o Maintain instrument calibrations and supply inventories to provide timely support to operations and project work.o Maintain confidentiality in all matters.

• Assisting the supervision and other safety section staff with the development and/or review of safety related training.
• Assisting line management with workplace monitoring, assessments, inspections and accident investigations. Includes supporting the identification and documentation of root causes and providing corrective actions/recommendation to prevent recurrence.
• Will be required to perform formal presentations to employees and line managers to deliver the results of an assessment, inspection or investigation.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:Education

• Occupational Health and Safety Professional designation.

Experience

• Five (5) or more years of relevant safety experience in construction/demolition environments involving heavy equipment.
• Industrial hygiene knowledge in areas such as Asbestos, Silica, hazardous chemicals/WHMIS, noise, heat-stress, confined space entry, and personal protective equipment and clothing (PPE amp;C).

Security Requirements

• Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariatquot;Standard on Security Screening quot; and thequot;Policy on Government Security quot;.

• Proven technical document writing skills i.e.: procedures, investigations, reports.
• Initiative and judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records.
• Exceptionally organized and detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines - able to prioritize and manage work time effectively. • Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one #39;s work; conscientious about accuracy.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and respond with initiative. Able to improvise and to deal adequately with rapidly changing conditions.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills - written and oral - and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
• Able to provide prompt, clear and concise guidance as required. The candidate must be tactful and diplomatic, able to work effectively with employees, contractors and line management.
• Able to present recommendations, complete regulatory reporting and technical writing in a clear and effective manner.
• Able to effectively handle and diffuse difficult situations real time with internal and external clients.
• Understand Human Performance principles: Not just what an employee did but also why they did it (learned experience/beliefs).
• Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be punctual and dependable.
• Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs.
